The Greatest Gift I Can Give

TOP

Main title page

This is the season of gift giving.  In considering what I would give to those I care for in my life, I could think of no better gift than what follows coupled with the enclosed Gift Card.

You see, what I give you is a gift of peace and assurance concerning my final destiny.  Because I care for you, because you will continue to be a part of my life for the rest of my life, I want you to know so there will be no question, no wonder, no false hope.

My gift to you is my assurance that I am going to heaven when I die, whenever that day comes.  Of all things in life that are uncertain, of this I am certain.

It is important that you know my assurance is not based on the life I now live, or anything I have done in the past or might do in the future.  It is not based on the type of person I am, or how good I am to those around me, nor is it based on how often I attend church, how much money I contribute, or how I serve others.  My assurance of my place in heaven rests only on the word of God as proclaimed in the Bible, and my personal faith in Jesus Christ as Lord.

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16

“My sheep listen to my voice, I know them and they follow me.  I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand.” John 10:27, 28

One of the best things about a gift received is passing it on to those you love and care for.  If your salvation is founded on faith in Christ alone, and you know where your eternal destiny lies, let those you love know it.  Give them the gift of your peace and assurance this season. Do not wait!  Extra blank Gift Cards are enclosed for this purpose.

However, if you do not have the peace and assurance described above, and, therefore, cannot pass on the Gift Cards to others, then I lovingly challenge you to seek the truth God has provided for us all.  Ask yourself the hard questions:  If not Christ, what is the object of my faith?  I am a good person, but how will I ever know I have been good enough?  I want eternal life… on what is my hope grounded?  I’ve made mistakes in my life, how will God ever forgive me?

Take a step of faith that places your trust in God and his word.  Seek the answers to these, and other life questions in the Bible, all are there.  The enclosed track will help you, please read it.

Clearly, we do not know what a day holds for any of us.  Recent events in our country bear evidence of this fact.  Scripture describes our lives as a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes (1).  There is a wonderful peace in my life based on what I have come to believe, and where I place my trust and faith.  I desire that same peace for those I love as well.

It is my hope that Gift Cards will flow freely throughout our circle of family and friends this season.  What better gift could one give those he, or she loves.

(1) James 4:14b
